FUSE RUNNER

A Bomb Jack style game for the Sinclair QL

FUSE RUNNER is a brand-new arcade game for the Sinclair QL, written entirely in 68000 assembler. Collect all the bombs before the enemies get you! After the first bomb another one lights up – grab the lit bombs in the right order for a big bonus at the end of the round.

• 9 rounds with their own backdrops: city, mountains, desert, harbour, castle, forest, moon base, arctic and volcano – then it starts over, faster and with more enemies
• Smooth 25 frames per second in Mode 8 (256×256, 8 colours) on a QL at original speed
• Walkers, flyers, seekers and hoppers that jump from platform to platform
• Bonus items: extra life, freeze (catch frozen enemies for up to 3200 points) and blast
• Title music and jingles, high score table saved to disk, easy mode
• English and German, switchable in the menu
• Keyboard, joystick (CTL1/CTL2) and MiSTer gamepads

Requirements

Sinclair QL with at least 256K RAM, or one of: MiSTer (QL core, RAM set to 640K), QLCore on the ZX Spectrum Next / N-GO, QPC2, Q-emuLator, sQLux or a QL with QL-SD.

Downloads

• fuserunner.win – QXL.WIN hard disk image with BOOT and game. Easiest way for MiSTer, QL-SD, QPC2 and Q-emuLator.
• fuserunner-v1.1.zip – all game files (WIN image, executable, raw binary, loading screen, BASIC loaders) plus the full manual LIESMICH_README.txt (English part below the German one).

Quick start

• MiSTer: you need an OS ROM with QL-SD driver (MiSTer_QL_OS_qlsd109.zip by Marcel Kilgus). Set RAM to 640K, mount fuserunner.win as HD image, load the qlsd ROM and press F1 or F2.
• QPC2 / Q-emuLator: mount fuserunner.win as WIN1, then LRUN win1_boot
• If EXEC reports “bad parameter” after copying from a PC, the QDOS file header got lost – run INSTALL_bas or start via LOADER_bas. Details are in the manual.

Controls

• Cursor keys + Space, or joystick: walk left/right
• Up / Space / Fire: jump – hold longer to jump higher, hold while falling to glide
• Down: drop fast · ENTER: pause · ESC: menu
